Fun Monday # 53

Crown Princess at ooh,a shinypen has set us this assignment...

Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you.

I found this really difficult and I have been playing with three draft posts over the weekend but then suddenly in the middle of the night I knew which song I was going to post. I haven't actually heard it for years I didn't know if it would be on 'you tube' but hey presto after some searching I found it. You will probably never have heard of it because it was a minor hit here in UK for a couple of weeks in the 80's. Back then I didn't know whether this would ever apply to me but I'm so glad it does! This one is for all the Grandma's everywhere as I'm sure it's how our grandchildren see us~ well I hope so anyway!

I'll be around to hear about your song later.

Well you get the prize for the most obscure , but nice, song I've come across in the FM pages so far Chris.

Believe it or not, I may have heard that one! It sounds vaguely familiar. Of course, we have close ties to England and Wales, but I have to say that Granny Wales was NEVER like the one in the song.

Chris
After reading some of your comments on other Fun Mondays, I have been wondering what you would pick. You have made a wonderful selection especially since we have had the chance to "meet" your grandchildren. My oldest granddaughter was three yesterday, and my youngest is 8 weeks old today.

Blimey that was a blast from the past. I remember the girl with the lisp, in the pink cardigan, very well!

Good grief!! I remember that too....and not sure what else to say!! ;)

How beautiful!! Hope one day my grandchildren think of me that way too!:)))
You know in US, certain percent of kids are being brought up solely by grandparents because parent/parents are abandoning their kids!! Not good at all, huh?

That is lovely, Chris! My grandparents were all dead before I was born so I am trying to be the grandmother to my grandkids that my mom was to mine. So far, so good.

Thanks.

So when are you coming to visit?

Very sweet! I have not heard this, but my 13 year old said he did in school. That was a shock.
My momma has improved a lot. I'll be off and on over the next week. We just got to take one day at a time. Thank you for being there for me!

I've never heard that song before but I really like it. It reminds me of my grandmothers and I hope it's the way my daughter will one day see her grandmothers.

It's not a nice song. It's one of the most blimmin' annoying songs in the history of the world. I was having a good start to the week until you put that in my head. And I didn't even play it - just seeing the title runed the inside of my head for the next few days.

It's not that I don't appreciate the cutesy sentiment. It's just the song itself. Aaaaaaaaah, cut off my ears, please...

That's so sweet! And, I'm sad to say the only Grandma song I've heard before is Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer. I should be ashamed, right?

Wow! I can't wait to be a grandma! It puts me in mind of when my girls were little and there nan lived quite far away. They missed her so, just like I miss mine. This song makes me a little sad. My nan passed when I was just 17, My grandma is still kicking at 86, and still strong though small. I miss her listening to this song.
Thank you!

That song is familiar. My two years in Hong Kong in the 80's has given me a confusing British knowledge. I never know what is american and what is british from back then. I always have ot ask my husband if he has heard of something. If he has I assume it is american. Sometimes I get strange looks!

How did I miss yours!?
It's so sweet.....I'll have to show it to Maddie she would probably memorize it for her grandma. It made me teary though now that my mom is so far away and Kelly's mom has passed.

I remember this. I think I was a similar age to the kids who sang it. I lost my Gran around the time it was out so it was always a little bittersweet then, but now it makes me think of her, and that's good. :D

Sorry I'm late commenting on last week's Fun Monday. My first Fun Monday and I've already failed to make quota!

What a beautiful song! When the time is right I cannot wait to have my daughters listen to it!
