Fun Monday # 67 Collections...

I am really late publishing this post as I had problems uploading my photos and video. It messed up my day but better late than never!!

Mariposa has come up with a good theme for this week.
Collections...she says:

We all have them...and if you don't, you do....you just may not realize it. For some reason or another we all collect something and we collect it for reasons that will definitely make for good reading. So on Monday, I want to see your collection. If you don't have or don't want or CAN'T (wink) show us a picture, then tell us what the collection is in 10 words or less. Then tell us why you started collecting it.

I'VE JUST RR-READ THE RULES AND REALISED I'VE BROKEN THE 10 WORD RULE......SO SORRY.... YOU NEEDN'T READ ALL THE DRIVEL I'VE WRITTEN, IT'S PRETTY DULL, SO JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURES AND MOVE ON!!

I don't know where to begin because I have lots of collections (you might think I just hoard junk!) and in any case I have show you some of them, like fridge magnets, coffee cups and willow pattern china before. I actually think I have shown you my figurines and I had these units built to have them on display. Now I look with a critical eye I am rather cluttered with photos and paintings done by my grand children.... but these are also a collection of sorts! I started not long after we moved into this house and I saw 'Rosie picking apples' (3rd shelf, 2nd figure from left) and it just appealed to me and I then began collecting different series. I gave up when I ran out of space!

Above and below are two collections belonging to Sam I think that she would be happy for me to get rid of them but I can't bring myself to do that, as there are some quite old key rings and badges among the collection. The video shows some of the teapots that my mother used to collect. She has given them to Beccy who has no room for them so they have been packed in boxes for years. There are several Arthur Wood teapots, one of which I recently added to the collection. Before I repack them my mother is going to tell me the stories behind the collection so that I can record it for Beccy.

Sam has this teapot and hot water jug set (picture not very good) which also belonged to my mother It is quite unusual with the metal lid which is weighted.

So there we are that's all folks I will get around to visiting you all over the next couple of days.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful collections. The figurines are wonderful and you've displayed them to advantage. I love the teapots, too bad they're temporarily in storage.

The teapot collection is fantastic! The badges are nostalgic to me - they remind me of some that I had when I was growing up.

Those teapots are so beautiful!

And I also posted about my pin (or badge) collection. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a collection of them!

That looks like it involves an awful lot of dusting, Chris!

I have always heard if you have 3 objects in the same category, you have a collection.

I loved seeing your collections, Chris.

Your tea pots are very pretty. I own only two that are special to me. As for the keychains they would make great swag for us geocaching addicts. Thanks for showing us your collections.

Lovely collections especially the teapots, they are cool. I see someone already made the dusting comment but I have to agree and say that must take ages!

Ohmygosh! There was a 10 word rule? Sheesh!!! I used way too many words … unintentionally, though I often ‘ignore’ rules on purpose … sigh ;--(

I sometimes have haphazard challenges with uploading images with Blogger too. ‘Tis a puzzlement ;--)

Having your collectibles ‘on display’ is pretty cool, but I certainly wouldn’t want to be the one who ‘dusts’ at your house. I’m a ‘recovering’ pack rat (with a long way to go to be clutter-free) but am relieved I don’t have some of the collections I’ve seen today on various blogs … like Sam’s collections of badges and key rings. My ‘illegal’ Fun Monday post is at Small Reflections.
Hugs and blessings,

Beautiful collections! The teapots are fantastic, and I loved the little video. Both of your collections will be (and already are) treasured heirlooms for years and years to come. Very nice :)

I love the teapots...they are just beautiful.

I never could bring myself to collect anything because it meant I had to dust the stuff.

The figurines are lovely, and the cabinets are perfect. I guess that somewhere ,some place or all over the place I have a key chain collection and quite a few badges too .

I love the variety!

The teapots are beautiful. i have always been a tea person and i used to drink quite strong Irish tea (milk tea) with sugar and milk.

Of course... you wouldn't actually drink out of those beautiful pots. My friend from Australia did serve hers up in quite a nice pot!

Cheers for collecting!

I used to know someone years ago who collected tea pots, she had some really interesting and funny ones too! Now me, I just have three, one was my nana's and is really pretty, I still use it sometimes but not often. One is glass, for herbal tea and one is stainless steel for brewing on the stove or fire!

Yep I use them all, I am slowly ridding the house of all things that are not in use anymore! After seeing all these collections I don't consider myself a collector at all!

You guessed it - I love the shelves that house your collection!

Seriously, the tea pots are wonderful, and having their story told is a fabulous idea.

My want a collection. It is sweet that you mother is passing her collection down to her grandchild. Guess you have to teapot enthusiast to know whom Arthur Wood is and why one would want an Arthur Wood teapot

Very unusual figurines--totally unfamiliar with "Rosies". The last teapot is a real treasure. I had one a few years ago with a message in the bottom--so sorry I broke it.
Re other collections--you must go to a lot of trade shows!

I love these figurines ! they look so romantic !
My cat collection is out of around 400 pieces, probably more than less lol ! No worry for dusting, the ceramic once I put in the dishwasher once in a while, lol !

Beautiful collection of teapots. I don't think you are alone, I know I broke the about 10 word part too.

My great grandmother collected lovely figurens like yours, which were passed to my grandmother. Keeping collections to be passed down really makes it priceless.

I think if she put her mind to it she could probably find a collection of decorative Christmas plates which do not seem to have had a mention in this orgy of collectaphobia until now. Love.
