Saturday Squirrels

This morning Embee noticed the squirrels out foraging again in a neighbour's garden. I have been trying to get photos of these little creatures for ages. So decided that it was about time I tried out the tripod that Embee bought me about a year ago!

What happened, once the tripod was set up they didn't appear-sods law. So I left it set up and when I came back, low and behold, there was one little chap sitting on the wall eating. Now I don't have a very sophisticated camera and these were taken on full zoom and I still couldn't get a clear picture. Give me marks for trying.

Postscript:
Embee thinks the squirrels are raiding a bird feeder.

Although the critters can be most uncooperative, the photos are fine. If you had a high-powered camera, you'd still have to purchase an expensive telephoto lens. My BIL paid almost $2000 for his camera and the same for his telephoto. :(

AC wow that is a lot of money so I'll be sticking to my little point, shoot and hope for the best!

Those tree rats will raid a bird table and take eggs and chicks from birds nests! Around here they get shot and eaten!

Chris, You do well with your 'point and shoot'!

Nice to see your mum out to enjoy her birthday lunch.

So glad your little critter decided to cooperate and pose where you had your tripod set up. The photos are just fine. We can tell what's happening and appreciate your effort.

Ahhhh...I love squirrels! Those are sweet pictures.

I can't believe that people actually "shoot and eat them!" (smile and wink ;)) I bottle fed two tiny ones that my husband (former) brought home from work several years ago. I finally realized that my feedings weren't sustaining them, searched for and found a wildlife rehabilitator who hooked them up to IV lines, but sadly, they didn't live for long. She actually gave them back to me in a mini coffin and my boys and I buried them in the backyard. Sounds silly I know, but squirrels are just precious!

I love it Chris that you have a heart for animals! It totally shines through even if you were only taking pictures. :O)

Have a fabulous week!

Lisa

In fact I got to speak to the fellow who's garden the eat in, and he told me that he buys peanuts especially for them just so that he can watch their antics trying to get the nuts. Around here we have enough magpies that it does'nt matter about tree rats the magpies do the damage, they are the ones that need some control.

Lisa that reminds me of times when we have tried to save injured birds not always successfully. If they ever dig up the garden in our old house they will find some animal skeletons. We had a little service when Beccy's guinea pig died. I wonder if she remembers!
