Fun Monday # 103 Winter Warmers

Our hostess this week is Gattina.

She is very brave as she wants to see what we wear on our feet. I cannot bring myself to show you the tatty old indoor shoes I wear in the winter. I vowed to replace them this year but haven't seen anything I particularly like.

As you may know it's been very cold here in the UK this year so I've worn thick socks inside my old shoes to keep my tootsies warm. I have these blue fluffy socks and a purple pair.
In the evenings I sometimes wear my bed socks. Now what you can't see in the picture, below, are the holes in the bottom (they are nearly 30 years old so I can't complain)-if anyone has a simple knitting pattern for bed socks that they would like to share I would be very grateful.
The other socks that I find useful for home wearing are the free flight socks that I have collected over the years (most of these are from Virgin or BA flights but now I think they may have stopped giving them out). They are very colourful and surprisingly cosy.

Well that about it for me.......Ok I know you are curious so I'll let you peep..The white splodges are paint. You can be a rude as you like I know they need throwing out.

I'll be around later to see what the best dressed feet wear!

Wow, free socks from airlines??? I never knew any of them did that. Then again, I haven't flown commercial in close to 20 years, so I'm sure there's alot I don't know about!

And do not throw out your old comfy clog-things! Around the house, comfort is the most important thing and if they're comfy, then KEEP THEM...paint splotches and all!

First Chris, thanks for sharing your vacation photos from Ireland--makes all us wannabe Irish homesick! And, Embee--nice touch guy--what a sentimental, unexpected Valintine's gift for your sweetie!

About those bedsocks--I'm not a knitter, but I found this great blog that has wonderful knitting patterns--very unusual designs like a teacup cozy. The woman who writes it is an artist and the blog is just plain cool. Hope my link works:

I've seen similar socks to your bed socks on sale at Christmas time -

I haven't knitted since I was in grade school.

how about this website? The whisper ones look snuggly and easy. Well easy for someone who can knit, not for me, obviously.

Sam I did see some of those patterns when I was searching but not the Chenille one I might try those.

It's good to be comfortable, especially at home. I never heard of free socks from an airline!

I've never seen those flight socks before. I did once get a free package of condoms on a flight to Thailand.

I've never seen bedsocks before - except for baby booties (which look quite similar).

I have some fluffy pink socks too - and they are cozy warm.

Have no shame in wearing the last ones you showed - the worn ones are the best and like you, I would not throw them out.

Your footwear around the house has a variety that mine definitely lacks!

Methinks if I lived where you do I'd wear similar things on my feet to stay warm ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

Oh you just reminded me of yet another failure of mine lately! I have not forgotten your sock pattern (I have not had time to type it out! Maybe I will just photocopy it and post it! It will probably get there quicker! Sorry! Will try and redeem myself and send it along!) Hugs xxxx
