The Brecon Steam Railway

Things have been a little bit chaotic in this household since I wrote a post when I was over in Dublin. I can't believe that was about six weeks ago, where does the time go!!
Since then Beccy and Ben have been over here for a quick visit. We managed to pack quite a lot into their short visit including a trip to ride on the Brecon Steam Railway. We were extremely lucky with the weather on that particular day and had a lovely day out. I took a lot of photos and thought I would share a few with you.

Interesting name!
Waiting for the train to arrive!
Ben looking fed up with waiting!
Arriving

Peeking in to see the driver!

Looking happier now he has got a prime seat with a view!

Passing view

The reservoir
Mother and son!

Shot from the train

Looking back towards the station

Took this when we did a little walk

View across from station to pump house

Closest we get!
Showing the overflow

View from the other side
Mother and daughter!

The tiny station where the train stopped to turn engine. We wanted to walk so we took a later train back. It would have been good to walk all around the reservoir but we decided it would take much longer than predicted by the chap at the station and the weather was very unsettled; so that's for the next visit!

Old machines on show (Threshing Engine we think)

I think this one is American
As we left to return to Pant Station.

Happy Birthday Embee

Today Embee is celebrating his birthday. I won't mention how old he is, lets just say he was a tiny tot  before the second world war. Now it might not look much of a birthday cake; however, being a diabetic (tablet controlled) he's not supposed to have an excess of sugar, so this is the cake I make for him.

The recipe comes from an Anthony Worrall Thompson cookery book, one of a series he wrote after he, himself, was diagnosed with diabetes.
We might even go out for meal this evening!
